Obituary for Nancy A. Nuttelman
She was born on June 27, 1933 to Lester and Catherine (Tierney) Hall in La Crosse, Wisconsin, the second youngest of fourteen children. Nancy spent her early years growing up on French Island and later in La Crosse. She graduated from Aquinas High School in 1951. After high school Nancy worked at Crams grocery store in La Crosse - a job she enjoyed and spoke about often. She also loved going dancing at the Avalon ballroom which is where she met the love of her life, LaVerne Nuttelman. Nancy and LaVerne were married on November 9, 1957 and moved to West Salem where they farmed and raised their family.
Nancy enjoyed talking to people. She was the favorite sister and aunt. She was an avid recipe collector and a good baker. She especially enjoyed making pies and cinnamon rolls. She swore her brothers could smell them baking all the way to Milwaukee and Onalaska because they would show up just in time to be served. Nancy was a proud Irish girl who learned how to make lefse. Her baked beans always made it to a potluck. She also loved gardening and spent countless hours canning and pickling everything she had grown. She was a member of Table Rock Homemakers for many years. Many hours were spent preparing and supporting family at numerous fairs and sporting events. She always enjoyed a good joke and time with family and talking about the good old days.
Nancy is survived by sons Richard (Cathy) Nuttelman of West Salem; Paul Nuttelman of Wisconsin Dells; and daughter Linda (Bryan) Mullendore of Amery; six grandchildren - Amy, Erica, Alan, Matt, Rachel, and Jake; thirteen great grand children and many beloved nieces and nephews.
