Obituary for Stephen T. "Steve" McNabb
Steve graduated from South Boston High School during which he won numerous state trophies for swimming and track and field. He graduated from Boston Community / Technical College with a degree in heating and refrigeration.
Steve received several commendations during his military service in the Korean War, including the Bronze Star for Valor, a United Nations Service Medal, a Presidential Unit Citation, a National Defense Service Medal, and a Combat Infantry Badge.
He married Mary Drotar in 1957 at St. Augustine Church. They moved from Boston, MA to La Crosse, WI where Steve worked at Trane Company and Heileman’s Brewery until he retired.
Steve enjoyed working outside, dancing with his wife and was known for his love of the Boston Red Sox. You could always find him wearing his “B” hats. He got great pleasure watching the Red Sox win their first World Series. He also enjoyed being a Green Bay Packers fan and watching the games.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; daughters, Kathryn “Kate” McNabb and Ann (Hale) McNabb; son-in-law, Curtis Hale; and grandson, Marcus Hale.
A visitation will be held on Monday, July 29, 2024, at Fredrickson Funeral Home, Woodruff Chapel, 4239 Mormon Coulee Rd., La Crosse, beginning at 4:00 p.m., and concluding at 6:00 p.m., with the rendering of military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Lewy Body Dementia Association.
