Obituary for Anna M. Erickson

Anna Marie (Sturgill) Erickson, 77, passed away at home, after a short battle with cancer on February 17, 2024. She was surrounded by her family and passed away peacefully.

Anna was born in Milwaukee, Wisc., on September 17, 1946 to Charles and Margaret (Manashian) Sturgill. She would go on to graduate with honors from UW-Whitewater with a Bachelors in Education. Anna married Steven “Leifer” Erickson in Cameron, Wisc., on June 17, 1977. They were married for 30 years before Leifer passed away.

Anna enjoyed caring for and serving others, especially her family. She loved holidays and decorating for each and every one. She also loved crafting and sharing that experience with anyone around her, including baking and sharing her treats. She had a green thumb and enjoyed showing off her garden. Anna had a natural inclination to teach- her children, her students, and helping clients with disabilities in the workplace as a job coach. Her faith was strong, and she believed in eternal life in Heaven. Anna would always end her conversations with “so long” instead of “goodbye,” and wished everyone “peace and love” on their departure. Anna made a positive impact on those that knew her, and she will be deeply missed.

Anna is survived by her children, Rebecca (Paul) Gerek, Michelle (Franklin) Flores, Michael (Kandi) Erickson, and Patrick (Megan) Erickson; 10 grandchildren; 1 sister and 3 brothers. She also leaves behind many family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Margaret; her loving husband, Leifer; her sister, Dawn Graham; as well as other family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 4141 Mormon Coulee Road, La Crosse, Wisc. Pastor Harald Bringsjord will officiate. A visitation will take place from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Mayo Clinic Hospice team, and Pastor Bringsjord from Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
