Obituary for Duane W. Triplett


Duane Ward Triplett passed away peacefully at the home of his daughter surrounded by family on February 16, 2024.

Duane was born April 6, 1936, to Ralph and Gladys (Ward) Triplett in Cassville, Wisconsin. He was a 1954 graduate of Central High School. On July 30, 1955, he married his high school sweetheart, Doris Stegen. This union produced 9 D’s. Daughters, Debra (Doug) Peitz, Diana Nickelotti, Dawn (Gary) Hougom and Denise (Ray) Luechtefeld and sons, David (Rhonda), Daniel (Judy), Dennis, Donald and Darin. They were also blessed with 21 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Grandchildren include, Trina Smith, Chris (Tara) Albers, Mandi (Kyle) Overby, Kristi (Troy) Downs, Holli (Matt) Ludlow, Richie Nickelotti, Jeni Rapraeger, Joe (Jacci) Triplett, Jana (Todd) Martinson, Sarah Howe, Brandon Howe, Brittany (Jordan) Shackleton, Brianna Hougom, Brett (Haley) Hougom, Hanna, Emma, Tessa, Marra and Haydn Leuchtefeld, and Colten and Gavin Triplett.

Duane was a machinist by day working at NCR in West Salem for a number of years and then Northern Engraving in Sparta for the majority of his career. Duane was a carpenter/plumber/electrician/auto mechanic by night/weekends. If it was broken, he could fix it. If it needed building, he could build it. Duane was a patient, kind, generous, honest and hardworking Christian who lived his life by example. He looked forward to his daily bible readings with his son and son-in-law. He was truly loved by everyone who knew him and will be missed by all. Duane was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Dennis; twin sister, Diane (Jim) Running; sister, Faith Pederson; and brother, Vernon Triplett.

In addition to his children, their spouses, and his grandchildren he is survived by his half brothers, Darrell and Jeff Triplett and Chris Singer; half sister, Hope Triplett; brothers-in-law, Jim (Peggy) Running and Jerry Kendhammer; and sister-in-law, Joann Triplett; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Friday, February 23, 2024, at Holmen Lutheran Church. A meal will follow. A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m., until the time of service, Friday, at the church. We would like to thank Avera and Gundersen Hospice for the excellent care these last few weeks.
