Obituary for Raymond P. Renk

Raymond Paul Renk
Raymond Paul Renk, 51, of Caledonia, Minn., formerly of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away on February 25, 2011, surrounded by his family at the Caledonia Care & Rehab.  Raymond's courage and strength inspired friends, family, and medical facility personnel during his lengthy journey of the ill-fated cancer that overwhelmed his body.
Raymond was born June 6, 1959, in La Crosse, Wis., the son of Roy and Geneva (Meiners) Renk.  He was the youngest of six children.  Raymond served in the U.S. Air Force from 1977 to 1981, working in airplane maintenance; and was stationed at Spangdahlem Air Force Base, Germany, for a portion of his duty.  In 1989, he attended college for rental management.  Raymond moved to western Iowa and was employed in the meat cutting business and as a machinist for All Power, Inc. 
He is survived by his mother, Geneva Renk of Sun City, Ariz.; sisters, Lorraine (Jerry) Good of Phoenix, Ariz., Carolyn Crouch of Ottawa, Ill., and Marilyn Kostrzak of Appleton, Wis.; brothers, Richard (Laura) of Savage, Minn. and Robert (Julie) of Caledonia; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins; and close friends, Sheila and Dale Pedersen and Marjoria and Daniel Hattig.  He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Renk.
A Service of Celebration will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at St. John's United Church of Christ (Wheatland), rural New Albin.  Pastor Paul Burgess will officiate.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service.  Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Homes and Crematory, (Caledonia Chapel), is in charge of arrangements.  Online condolences may be sent at
