Obituary for Harry W. Albers

Harry W. Albers, 85, of Holmen, passed away Monday, January 24, 2011, at his home.
He was born March 11, 1925, in West Salem to Friedrich and Minnie (Meyer) Albers. On January 21, 1950, he married Gladys M. Garnier at St. John's Lutheran Church in Barre Mills. Harry was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves and a past member of the Struck-Klandrud American Legion Post 336 in Onalaska.  He was also an active member of Halfway Creek Lutheran Church in rural Holmen. Harry was a farmer and also owned A&W Electric, both in Holmen. He enjoyed sports and outdoor activities. Harry loved his family and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Gladys; six daughters, Diana Albers of Downing, Wis., Beverly (Robert) Weber of Holcombe, Wis., Karen (William) Albers-Barbee of Holmen, Ava Grimslid (Andy Maravelas) of Onalaska, Judy (Jeff) Nederloe of Chaseburg, and Tammy Albers (Melissa Tate) of Altoona, Wis.; one son, Harry Albers, Jr. (Sheila Fox) of Holmen; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Irma Pralle of Hampton, Iowa, and Marie Tauscher and Doris Kastenschmidt, both of West Salem; one brother, Frederick Albers of Onalaska; one brother-in-law, Reuben Pralle of Hampton, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Mark; two sisters; three brothers-in-law; and one sister-in-law. Funeral services will be Friday, January 28, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at Halfway Creek Lutheran Church, W6016 Hwy W, rural Holmen.  Pastor Jean Pagliaro will officiate.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  Friends may call at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.  Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Homes and Crematory, (Woodruff Chapel), La Crosse, is in charge of arrangements.  Online condolences may be sent at
