Obituary for Myron J. Bryhn


Myron J. Bryhn, 72, of La Crosse, died Monday, August 15, 2011, at his home.
Myron  was born March 31, 1939, in Galesville, Wis., to Arthur and Stella (Swenson) Bryhn. He was a 1957 graduate of Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau High School. Myron was a veteran of the United States Army having served from 1958 until 1961. On October 27, 1962, he married Shirley Oslie at South Beaver Creek Lutheran Church, Ettrick, Wis. Myron was employed at Isola in La Crosse for 37 years. During his retirement, he enjoyed driving and transporting cars for Dahl Automotive, Pischke Motors, and Avis Car Rental. Myron was an avid NASCAR fan and Matt Kenseth was his favorite driver. He also was very proud of his die-cast race car collection. In addition to watching every race, Myron enjoyed watching his favorite NFL team, the Green Bay Packers.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley of La Crosse; one daughter, Sheila Bryhn, her fiance, Fritz Rasmussen, and his three daughters, Katie, Christine, and Kimberly, all of La Crescent, Minn.; one granddaughter, Ashley Bryhn and her fiance, Tony Krocka, both of Milwaukee, Wis.; his mother, Stella Bryhn of Ettrick, Wis.; five sibblings, Arvid (Gen) Bryhn of Ettrick, Karen Knutson (Jim Cornwell) of Aransas Pass, Texas, Marla (Henry) Onsrud of Ettrick, Steven (Vicky) Bryhn of Kasson, Minn.; and Julie (David) Hanssen of West Salem, Wis.; several nieces and nephews; his NASCAR buddy, Tim Engen of Strum, Wis.; and his faithful companion, his dog, Simon.
Myron was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Larry Bryhn.
Funeral services will be Thursday, August 18, 2011, at 3:00 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 4141 Mormon Coulee Rd., La Crosse. Rev. Meredith McGrath will officiate. Military honors will follow the service at the church by the Thomas Rooney VFW Post 1530 and the Roy L. Vingers American Legion Post 52, both of La Crosse, and the United States Army Funeral Honor Guard. Entombment will be in the Good Shepherd Columbarium and Prayer Garden at a later date. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. A complete obituary will follow in Wednesday's La Crosse Tribune.
