Edgar G. Varney, 62, of Caledonia, Minn., died Saturday, August 6, 2011, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse.
Edgar was born August 30, 1948, in Wolfeboro, N.H., to Harold and Viola (Eldridge) Varney. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served from 1966 until being honorably discharged in 1972. Edgar was a generous, kind, and loving father and friend who was always there when someone needed him. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include one daughter, Serina (Frank) Puebla, of Avondale, Ariz.; two sons, Daniel and Anthony Varney, both of Caledonia; three grandchildren; four sisters, Donna, Barbara, Mary, and Gloria; and many nieces and nephews.
Edgar was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Aaron Varney; two brothers, Morris and Ronald; and one niece and one nephew.
A visitation will be Wednesday, August 10, 2011, at Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Home, 518 W. Main St., Caledonia, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a brief prayer service to be held at 5:00 p.m. Rev. Tom Schultz will officiate. Military honors by the Loveless-Eikens American Legion Post 191 of Caledonia, and the United States Army Funeral Honor Guard will follow the prayer service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
