Obituary for Robert D. Wallace


Robert D. Wallace, 90, of La Crosse, passed away Thursday, June 23, 2011, at Bethany Riverside Nursing Facility, La Crosse.
He was born March 14, 1921, in La Crosse, to David and Emma (Stange) Wallace. Robert was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps having served for six years during WWII in the South Pacific until being honorably discharged in September of 1945. On May 17, 1952, he married Ruth Fancher in La Crosse. Robert was a volunteer at Bethany on Cass and Bethany Riverside in pastoral care for over 30 years.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth; his two daughters, Susan (Rod) Ferguson of Marshfield, Wis., and Mary (Richard) Green of Joliet, Mont.; two grandchildren, Scott Ferguson and Sarah Courteau; one great-grandchild, Nathan Courteau; one sister, Carol Cramer of Elgin, Ill; four nephews; and one niece.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Joyce Wallace; and one grandchild, Laura Kay Ferguson.
Memorial services will be Monday, June 27, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. at the Faith and Life Center at Bethany Riverside Nursing Facility, 2575 South 7th St., La Crosse. Rev. Kimberly Jordan will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery with military honors by the United States Marine Corps Funeral Honor Guard. Friends may call at the Faith and Life Center on Monday from 12 noon until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Bethany Riverside Pastoral Care or Gundersen Lutheran Hospice.
