Obituary for Glen R. "Lurch" Stevenson


Glen Ralph "Lurch" Stevenson was 68 years old when he passed away in his sleep, June 19, 2011, at his home in Holmen. He has reached his ultimate dream of being with his God, Lord, and Savior. Glen went to meet his Father in Heaven on Father's Day. He was born March 30, 1943, in Deer Park, Wash., to Arthur Bead and Clara Ethel (Brown) Stevenson. Glen married Alberta Tucker and they moved to Butte, Mont., where they lived for many years. They later divorced. Glen married V. Lois (Sweet) Ringle on February 14, 1992, in Butte, Mont. Glen retired from the United States Army National Guard after 20 years of service and from the U.S. Postal Service after 30 years. The last 14 years, he lived in Holmen. Glen was a loving, Christian man, well known to the Church of Christ. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend. His singing and laughter would ring through a house with infectious cheer. Glen was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and archery. He became greatly interested in geneology research.
Glen is survived by his loving wife, V. Lois Stevenson; his sister, Carol D. (Jim) Siders; his daughter, Kathleen L. (Jerry) Dickson, and their children, Jared, Katelynn, and Landon; his daughter, Glenda M. Eldred and her children, Casey and Cody; his son, David A. (Annie) Stevenson, and their children, Derrick, Chelsey, Bryant, and Daimon; his daughter, V. Lu (John) Haney, and their children, Devin, Zachary, and Trinity; and his son, Frank H. Ringle, and his daughter, Zoey.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents and his step-father, Manual Rupple.
Memorial services will be Thursday, June 23, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. at the 28th St., Church of Christ, 3602 28th St., La Crosse. Tom Roerkohl will officiate. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Garden Cemetery, Opportunity, Mont., at a later date. A second memorial service in Montana is being planned and will be announced by the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the 28th St., Church of Christ, La Crosse. Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Homes and Crematory, (Woodruff Chapel), La Crosse, is assisting the family with arrangements.
