Obituary for Al Antony

Aloysius “Al” Nickolas Antony, 91, of Bangor, died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving wife of 65 years and his children on Saturday, February 17, 2018. Al was born September 26, 1926 in Portland, Wis.. to Nicholas and Anna (Weinke) Antony. Al enlisted in the Navy in January of 1945, and served in the Philippines during World War II. For the past 70 years, he was an active member of the Anderson-Good American Legion Post 40 of Bangor. In his earlier years, Al was employed at Trane Company for 17 years and hauled milk for the Bangor Creamery. In 1958, he and his wife moved to the farm where they raised their 13 children. Al began full time farming in 1964 and was an active member of the NFO since 1968. Al is survived by his wife, Anna Mae; their children, Charles (Rhonda), Rose, Lyle (Jodi), Dean (Renee), LeRoy (Dawn), Leonard (Dawn), Mary Jo (Gary) Hess, and Peggy (James) Larson; son-in-law, Jerry Warthan; daughters-in-law, Gayle Mason and Debra Antony; 22 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; sisters, Evelyn Jensen, Anna Mae Hemmersbach, Mary Hemmersbach, and Amelia Bradley. Al was preceded in death by his sons, Bernard, Allen, Phillip, and Kenneth; daughter, Bonita Warthan; son-in-law, Michael Morgan; daughters-in-law, Diane and Laura; his parents; brothers, LaVerne, Erling, and Nicholas, Jr.; sisters, Lorraine Brueggeman and Emily Bryant; and very special cousin, Howard. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Middle Ridge. Father Tim Welles and Msgr. Delbert Malin will concelebrate. Following the mass, military honors will be rendered by the United States Navy Funeral Honor Guard and the American Legion Post 40 of Bangor. A rosary will be recited at 3:45 p.m., with a visitation from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., Tuesday, a visitation will also be held from from 10 a.m., until the time of mass Wednesday, all at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Middle Ridge. Private burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Homes and Crematory, Bangor Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
