Obituary for Glenn Meiners

Glenn Meiners, 93, passed away, Feb. 15, 2018, at the Caledonia Care and Rehab, Caledonia, Minn. Glenn was born on March 23, 1924, to Herman and Ella (Poppe) Meiners and married Gladys Runningen on August 29, 1947. He was preceded in death by Gladys, his wife of 67 years. Glenn is survived by three sons, Gordon (Marcia), Gerald (Ann), and Gary (Anna); along with seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Glenn was a life-long area farmer who enjoyed serving on area school, church, and agricultural organizations. He was proud of his 70 years of elected service, beginning as treasurer of a one-room school house in 1948, and capping his career by serving as the clerk for Mayville Township for the past 30 years. Glenn was very conservation-minded in his farming operation, winning various awards for leadership in land stewardship. He and Gladys were also active volunteers at the Houston County Historical Society, among other organizations. Glenn and Gladys enjoyed traveling around the country and Europe through their involvement in various organizations. They were especially privileged to visit their nephew Danny and his wife June, who were stationed in Asia. Glenn’s family would like to thank Caledonia Care and Rehab for their excellent care. We would also like to thank all family, friends and neighbors who kept in constant contact with him over the years. Finally, we give special thanks to Marliss Danielson for her visits and prayers in recent years. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018, at St. John’s Ev.
