Obituary for Rosie (Rud) Laumb

Rosie (Rud) Laumb, 91, of Caledonia, Minn., passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018, surrounded by her loving family, at Caledonia Care and Rehab . Rosie was born July 19, 1926, in the Caledonia area to Elmer and Elsie (Sass) Rud. On August 23, 1949, she married Erling Laumb at Wilmington Lutheran Church. Erling preceded her in death in 1985. Rosie was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, sewing, quilting, crafting, and doing puzzles. Rosie was famous for her potato salad. Even though she only had four grandchildren, she was “Grandma” to many who knew her. At Caledonia Care, she was known for her sense of humor and smiling face. She was also an active member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She worked and volunteered at numerous places including: farming, waitressing and bartending at local establishments, Caledonia Bakery, Kwik Trip, Caledonia Care and Rehab, Caledonia High School, and St. Mary’s School. She is survived by her children, Glenn (Bonnie) Laumb and Beverly (Larry “Bugman”) Bauer; 4 grandchildren, Michelle (Dan) Reinhart, Terry (Audrey) Bauer, Maria (Phil) Felten, and Michael Laumb; ten great-grandchildren, Adrianna, Isiah, Ashlyn, Caleb, Caitlyn, Peyten, Jaclyn, Kalyn, Max, and Wacey. She is also survived by two brothers, LeRoy “Snooky” (Margie) Rud and Elmer “Sonny” (Bev) Rud; and six in-laws, Nicky Rud, Kathy Rud, Mildred Schroeder, Esther (Ray) Omodt, and Raymond “Deke” Hagen. Rosie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, one grandson, David Laumb; 5 brothers, Orval, Wilfred, Earl, Edward, and LuVern; 3 sisters, Bernice, Dorothy, and Shirley; and numerous in-laws. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, Friday, Jan. 12, 2018, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Caledonia. Rev. Steven E. Meyer will officiate. Burial will follow in Wilmington Lutheran Cemetery. A visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday and from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Friday both at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. John’s School, or St. Mary’s School all in Caledonia, Minn.
