Obituary for Stanley C. Schroeder

Stanley C. Schroeder, 74, of Caledonia, passed away Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018, at Caledonia Care and Rehab. He was born May 17, 1943, in Caledonia, Minn., to Victor and Laurine (Kruckow) Schroeder. Stanley was baptized on May 28, 1943, and confirmed on June 9, 1957, both at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Caledonia. Stanley attended St. John’s Elementary School and graduated from Caledonia High School in 1961. He was a veteran serving in the United States Air Force from 1962 until 1966. On September 26, 1965, he married Diane Jaeger at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ixonia, Wis. Stanley was employed as a truck driver with Gateway Foods and also as a dairy farmer. He was a member of the Loveless-Eikens American Legion Post 191 of Caledonia, the FSA Board, the Thrivent Financial Board, the Farmer’s Union, and he was a member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Caledonia where he served in multiple positions. Survivors include his wife, Diane of Caledonia; children, Kristine (Wayne) Houdek, Corey (Coreen) Schroeder, Joel (Amy) Schroeder, and Kyle (Jana) Schroeder; 14 grandchildren; one step-grandchild; two step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Donna (John) Zeitler; two brothers, Dean (Mary) Schroeder and Rolf (Jean) Schroeder; one sister-in-law, Carol Schroeder; and many nieces and nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, Stanley was preceded in death by his son, Steven Schroeder; and his brother, Gary Schroeder. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 650 N. Kingston St., Caledonia. Rev. Jon Wolff will officiate. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery with military honors by the American Legion Post 191 of Caledonia and the United States Air Force Funeral Honor Guard. A visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Thursday both at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Caledonia. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church or School or to a charity of the the donor’s choice.
