Obituary for Violet M. (Topel) Rediske


Violet “Vi” Mae (Topel) Rediske, 78, of La Crosse died Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Brookdale Senior living in La Crosse. Vi was born April 30th, 1939 in La Crosse to Lawrence and Verna Topel; she married John Rediske on July 27, 1963, and they had two children. Vi loved helping others, working in her early years as a nurse’s aide, and later raising her two children, as well as providing child care to many others. Vi also enjoyed listening to music, going dancing with John, gardening and caring for her numerous houseplants, bowling, rolling several 600’s, her cats, running, winning many 5k races in her age group, cooking and baking, especially making lefse with her mom, sisters and nieces, and watching and supporting her children and grandchildren in their many activities.Vi was also a member of St Paul’s Lutheran church in La Crosse where she taught Sunday school for many years. She is survived by a daughter, Karla (Jeff) Woody of Onalaska; a son, Gregory (Wendy) Rediske of La Crosse; grandchildren Sara Rediske, Megan Woody, Andrea Woody, Abigayle Rediske, and Jared Rediske; brothers Harold Topel of Dresbach, Minn., Phil (Rita) Topel of North Wildwood, N.J., Fred (Pat) Topel of Powersite, Mo, and Alan Topel of Coon Valley; two sisters in law Mary Topel of Veazie, Maine and Lynn Topel of Clermont, Fla., as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; siblings Marylin Hollis, Barb West, Ken Topel, Rita Kaiser and Bob Topel; two brothers in law and two sisters in law. The family would like to thank the staff of Brookdale Senior Living Clairbridge Cottage memory unit for the care given to Vi for the last few years. A memorial service will be at 5 p.m., Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Home and Crematory, Woodruff Chapel, La Crosse.
