Obituary for Reuben A. Storandt

Reuben A. Storandt, 90, of Mindoro, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at his home, Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2017. He was born October 3, 1927, on the home farm in Lewis Valley, rural Mindoro, to Raymond F. and Aagot (Hanson) Storandt. Reuben was baptized November 27, 1927, by John Kroonemeyer. He attended the Lewis Valley Grade School; then, farmed with his Dad on the home farm. On October 6, 1951, he married Carol R. Jones at the Mindoro Presbyterian Church. Together they both farmed and raised their family on the home farm until he retired in 1989, when they moved into the town of Mindoro. He is a longtime member of Mindoro Presbyterian Church and was Mindoro Citizen of the Year in 2000. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Carol; his beloved dog, JoJo; his seven children, Nancy Somerville (Michael Paisley), Ronnie Storandt (Faith Johnson), Thomas (Jordan) Storandt, John (Deborah) Storandt, Jean Storandt, Reuben Jr., Storandt (fiancee, Cindy Wyss), Penny (Paul, Jr.) Lash; 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Margaret Haag, Marcella Koss, and Gloria (Jake) Jenson; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his wife, Carol's loving family. Reuben was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Raymond Jr.; his grandson, Thomas James "T.J."; two nephews, Michael and Kenneth Koss; two nieces, Lori Koss and Margie Windsor; two daughters-in-law, Denise Storandt and Wendy Storandt; one son-in-law, Thomas Somerville; four brothers-in-law, Donald Haag, Robert Koss, William Miller, and Leo Stetzer; and two sisters-in-law, Donna Jones and Jean Jones. Memorial services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017, at the Mindoro Presbyterian Church. Pastor Allan Hanson will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Farmington Cemetery. There will be no visitation prior to the memorial service; family will visit with guests following the service during a time of fellowship.
