Obituary for Joshua A. Koss

Joshua A. Koss, 29, of Mindoro, was unexpectedly taken from us on Saturday, May 21, 2011, due to injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.
He was born May 6, 1982, in La Crosse to Gary and Joyce (Stetzer) Koss.  Josh graduated from Melrose-Mindoro High School in 2000.  He was employed by the Rod Haag farm and the Tommy Pfaff farm, both in Melrose, and later drove truck for Dennis Pierce and then Mathy Construction.  Josh currently was farming on the family farm in Mindoro and was also an assistant horse trainer for Rush River Percherons.  In addition to his passion for horses, he was very interersted in machinery and crop farming.
Survivors include his parents, Gary and Joyce Koss of Mindoro; three sisters, Jackie (Jason) Schwier of Barre Mills, Janelle (Eric) Grimsled of Seneca, Wis., and Jodie (Joel) Craig of Mindoro; his brother, Jonathan Koss of Mindoro; his nieces and nephews, Macy Craig, twins Bailey and Avery Craig, Orin and Evan Schwier, and Jaren and Jace Grimsled; his aunts, uncles, and many cousins; special friend, Ashley Craig; special horse friends, Tom and Treasa Springett, Freeman Yoder, and Andy Stallheim; and many other friends and horse friends.  He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; his cousin, Dennis Fischer; and his brother-in-law, Billy Blaken.
Funeral services for Josh will be combined with the funerals for TJ Storandt and Joel Kirchner and will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. at the Melrose-Mindoro High School gymnasium, N181 State Hwy 108, Melrose.  Pastor Janet Wollam will officiate.  A private family burial for Josh will be held in Lewis Valley Lutheran Church Cemetery (Norden Cemetery).  A combined visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.  For those who would like to attend the visitation but will not be able to stay for the funeral, we ask that you please try to come during the first half of the visitation if possible.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.  Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Home, (Jostad Chapel), West Salem, is in charge of arrangements.  Online condolences may be sent at www.jandtfredrickson.com.
