Obituary for Clarence "Buzz" J. Campbell

Clarence “Buzz” J. Campbell, 91, formerly of Bloomington, Minn., died Thursday, August 17, 2017, at Benedictine Villa in La Crosse, where he resided for the past five years. He was born June 10, 1926, in Morristown, Minn., to Clarence and Leah (Johnson) Campbell. Buzz was a Navy Veteran, serving with the Seabee's. After his discharge from the service, he returned home and later married Virginia “Pat” LeBlanc on Nov. 6, 1948, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Faribault, Minn. They were blessed with one son David. Buzz was a 48 year employee of Farmer’s Home Group of Minneapolis, serving as president and then later as chairman of the board until his retirement. He received the Merit Award from the national association of Mutual Insurance Companies and the Robert C. Seipp Award for his long and valued service to mutual insurance in Minnesota. Buzz served as Chairman of the Minnesota Association of Farm Mutual Insurance Companies with five years as Director. He also served on the board of the Minnesota Insurance Federation, the Minnesota Insurance Information Service Center, Fidelity Bank North East, and Taylor Investment Company. Survivors include his son, David (Judy) of La Crosse; two grandchildren, Christopher (Talia) of Burnsville, Minn., and Daniel (Jennifer) of Omaha, Neb.; three great-grandchildren, Hudson of Burnsville, Minn., and Cora and Eliza, both of Omaha, Neb.; and many nieces and nephews. Buzz was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia; and a brother, Richard. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday, August 22, 2017, at Mary, Mother of the Church, 2006 Weston St., La Crosse. Father Robert Cook and Deacon Richard Sage will officiate. Interment will be held at a later date in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minn. A visitation will be held prior to the Mass from 9 a.m., until 10:15 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Gundersen Health System Hospice in La Crosse. Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Homes and Crematory, Woodruff Chapel, La Crosse, is assisting the family with arrangements.
