Obituary for Penny Jane Schieber


Penny Jane Schieber, of La Crosse, left this world Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse, as a result of an unexpected brain aneurysm. Penny was born February 11, 1956, in La Crosse to Samuel and Delores (Kundy) Nichols. She was 55 years old.
Penny grew up on the Northside of La Crosse and graduated from Logan Senior High School in 1974. On October 6, 1979, she married Steve Schieber and they lived in La Crescent, Minn., until the time of their divorce. Twin boys were born to them on February 2, 1984, Benjamin Richard and Matthew Alan Schieber.
Penny was employed at Dairyland Power for the last ten years and was the Compliance Coordinator Team Leader at the time of her passing. She previously worked at Gateway Foods until the time of their closing. She also was a member of the Dairyland Women's Club.
Survivors include her two sons, Benjamin Richard and Matthew Alan Schieber; the love of her life who made her laugh, smile, and has taken her on new adventures in her life the past five years, David Neubauer of La Crosse; her parents, Samuel and Delores Nichols of La Crosse; sisters, Susan (Alan) Bluske of La Crosse, Mary (Ken) DeYoung of Sharon, Wis., and Kathleen (David) Molledahl of La Crosse; nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews, Lisa Bluske and her daughter, Kanisha Clark of La Crosse, Christopher Bluske of Onalaska, Sarah (Sam) Block and their children, Keira and Julia, all of Milwaukee, Samuel (Melissa) Pierce of Milwaukee, Eric (Renee) Molledahl and their children, Andrew and Daniel, all of West Salem, Wis., Anne (Dwayne) Frederickson and their children, Emelia, Eric, Ellie, and Kathryn, all of Northfield, Minn., and Jon (Becky) Molledahl and their children, MacKenzie and Kylie, all of Westby, Wis. Penny is also survived by Justin Neubauer, LaTasha Neubauer, and Heidi Neubauer; Maddox and Brevik two special little boys who knew her as Grandma Penny; her former mother-in-law, Ruth Schieber; many nieces and nephews in the Schieber family; and aunts, an uncle, cousins, and many great friends.
Penny will be deeply missed by all, but through the gift of organ donation, she will be a part of many other lives.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, William and Alma Kundy and Harry and Bertha Nichols; her brother, Richard Joseph Nichols; her former father-in-law, Joseph Schieber; and her good friend, Barb Wiegrefe.
Memorial services will be Monday, May 16, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1010 Sill St., La Crosse. Pastor Stephan Sandness will officiate. Friends may call at Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Home, (Woodruff Chapel), 4239 Mormon Coulee Rd., La Crosse, on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. The family would like to thank the ICU Nurses and Doctors at Gundersen Lutheran for their excellent care and also the team of First Aid Attendants from Dairyland Power for their quick response.
