Obituary for Robert A. Jacobson

Robert A. Jacobson, 61, of Caledonia, died Thursday, April 7, 2011, at Caledonia Care and Rehab after a four and a half year courageous battle with Melanoma.
He was born December 25, 1949, in Caledonia to Almon and Mabel (Feil) Jacobson. Bob was a 1967 graduate of Caledonia High School. He then attended two years at Winona Technical College. In 1970, Bob enlisted in the United States Army National Guard and served until being honorably discharged in 1976. On January 19, 1974, he married Barbara Bredemann at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Caledonia. While attending technical college, Bob worked at Hector Construction in Caledonia. He later drove truck over the road and most recently, worked for the Houston County Highway Department. Bob was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Caledonia where he served on the Stewardship Commitee and the Church Council. He also was a 20 year retiree of the Caledonia Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife Barbara; two daughters, Heidi (Andrew) Lampert and Erin Jacobson; four grandchildren, Samuel, Caleb, Hannah, and Elijah "Jim Bob" and his mother, Mabel Jacobson, all of Caledonia; two sisters, Brenda (Tom) Olinger of Caledonia and Marie (Pete) Congdon of Burnsville, Minn.; one brother, Elton (Priscilla) Jacobson of Caledonia; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Paul and Violet Bredemann of Marshfield, Wis.; and many other in-laws and nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his father and his brother-in-law, Kenneth Bredemann.
Funeral services will be Monday, April 11, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, 650 N. Kingston St., Caledonia. Rev. Bill Limmer will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery with military honors by the Loveless-Eikens American Legion Post 191 of Caledonia and the United States Army National Guard Funeral Honor Guard. Friends may call at Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Home, 518 W. Main St., Caledonia, on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and also at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
