Dear family of Elmer, I was so sorry to hear of his passing. He will be sadly missed. He must have been a great person to know. My deepest sympathies to you all. Laurie

Elmer was a man that could make anyone laugh. During a visit at Shirley and Elmer's home I sat down and Elmer's offered me a beverage (no one ever enters the Stangeland's house without Elmer offering them a drink- sometimes 2-3 times). Anyway, holding my drink, Elmer was making his way back to his favorite chair and I ask how he was doing, without skipping a beat he casually responds, "Just following this thing around," pointing down to his walker. Elmer's humor came casually and unrehearsed and I will miss those little moments.
