I will always have a special place in my heart for Mrs. Lubbs (Norma) What a wonderful teacher, mentor and friend she was to me and so many others. I had planned to become a Phy Ed teacher as well, following in the footsteps of Norma and Avis and Donna but my life took a different path. I was delighted to reconnect with all of them in later years. I loved Norma's stories of the outdoor adventures she and Ken shared, her gardening tips and her enthusiasm about staying active. Norma and I had a fun afternoon of xc skiing a few years back at her house, and I truly regret that I didn't get back up there this past winter ( Norma always said I had an open invitation). I still had so much to learn from Norma, not just about skiing or kayaking but about life. Thank you Norma for your guidance and the wonderful memories we shared. I can picture you and Ken paddling away to a new destination...With love always, Julie T Central class of '79

I remember Norma as an incredibly energetic woman. I still bowl the way she taught me in gym class: shoe foot, sock foot, shoe foot, slide. She also took the time to help me with my canoeing skills for the Coon Creek Canoe race. Thanks to her, I won my division that year! She touched so many lives and she will be missed. -Lori Daellenbach Lawson Central High School class of 1990.

We were two eighth graders and Ken and Norma were our eighth grader teacher and our music teacher. We were rural kids and these two special teachers introduced us to the world outside our little town and farm life in so many ways and they laughed and encouraged all the way. Susie was a wee one and they had so much love for her, we observed what good, involved parents could be. We remained friends ever since those days. I see the two of them canoeing, biking and skiing through the fluffy clouds floating through the skytoday and it was a lovely sight. Thank you Ken and Norma for being you and caring about us with such joy. Mary and Jim Byron Norton

Such a beautiful lady! I think everyone has a memory or story to tell about an experience with Mrs Lubbs. She made everything fun and never pushed you, she didnt have to, she had a way of making you do it all on your own. RIP Mrs.Lubbs!

I have many memories of Mrs. Lubbs. Not being athletically gifted, I saw many a head shake from her. She did however take me aside one day and said that while it didn't come natural to everyone, everyone should try. I found out what I was good in. I'm sure without her advise, I wouldn't have attempted so many different things. Thank you, Mrs. Lubbs.

Mrs Lubbs is on my most memorable teacher list - a very short list indeed. I think that says a lot about her as a person and teacher. I remember that I never wanted to disappoint her. I valued her opinion. She taught me the importance setting goals and to expect the very best from myself. My deepest sympathy to your family.

"It's not the years in your life, it's the life in your years". And Norma had both a long life but more importantly a lot of life (fun)!!! One of the most active and energetic people I know, I had some of my most memorable experiences with the Lubbs. The day I met Ken and Norma out on the ice at Goose Island with their beautiful Samoyeds, dog sledding, a friendship was born. Dog sledding, skijoring, cross country skiing, canoeing, kayaking and gardening are just a few of the many activities I was introduced to and enjoyed with them. A short time after I met the Lubbs I met my future husband. Mike was also a friend as he used to live next door to them. We still laugh at the time we were canoeing with them on the Root River.....we dumped the canoe, it was quite the experience!!! We were told we could determine if we were compatible if we could canoe together ;-) I am forever thankful to the Lubbs, because of them I acquired my Samoyed, Crystal. We just lost her recently at the ripe old age of 14 (again a lot of life in her years)!! Thanks for the good memories, Norma!!! Rest in peace (although if I know Norma she's not resting for too long).

When I was a student at LaCrosse Central, Norma was the best teacher I ever had. As an adult, she was my greatest advisary in the Coon Creek Canoe Races. Rest in peace, Norma!
